Microsoft Azure Credit for Students

All LSUS students are eligible for $100 of free Azure credit per year. This is part of Microsoft's "Azure Dev Tools for Teaching" program.

To learn more about this program, please see Microsoft's FAQ here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/education-hub/azure-dev-tools-teaching/about-program

Unfortunately, Microsoft requires several steps that you must complete to activate this offer. We outline these steps below.

The following steps can be followed to gain access to this credit:

  1. Visit https://aka.ms/devtoolsforteaching
  2. Click "Sign In"
  3. Sign in with your LSUS.edu Single Sign-on credentials using your StudentID@lsus.edu username (e.g. A12345678@LSUS.edu).
  4. Complete the "Academic Verification" form. Note that the "School name" should be "Louisiana State University-Shreveport (Shreveport, LA)"
  5. View and accept the terms
  6. Complete the creation of your profile. Make sure you use your LSUS email address (e.g. smithj99@lsus.edu) and not your username (e.g. A12345678@lsus.edu).
  7. You should then be redirected to the Education page of the https://portal.azure.com site. You can alternatively navigate to this page manually by searching for "Education" at https://portal.azure.com and clicking on "Education"
  8. Once you are on the Education page of https://portal.azure.com, Click on "Get Started"
  9. Here you should see "Redeem student credits." Click the button below this text to activate your $100 in Azure credit.
  10. You should now have access to an "Azure for Students" Azure Subscription which has $100 of credit.
  11. You can view this subscription by searching for "Subscriptions" in the bar at the top of https://portal.azure.com. Note that you will need to set the filter on this page to "All subscriptions" to see your "Azure for Students" subscription.
  12. You can now create resources in Azure using this new "Azure for Students" subscription. Note that the "LSUS Azure Subscription 1" Azure subscription is not usable, and you will see errors if you attempt to use it. Make sure you only use the "Azure for Students" subscription.
