Some students might run into an issue where they are asked to enter a password to take an exam proctored by Proctorio. The password is embedded directly into your exam and is protecting the exam from being taken without Proctorio. You will never have to enter the password to take a Proctorio proctored exam.If Moodle is requesting a password, this means that something is preventing Proctorio and Moodle from communicating.
We recommend that anytime you experience an issue taking an exam, to screen shot the issue so that proof of the issue can be easily supplied to your professor in case you need to request any accommodations.
This issue can often be resolved by some or all of the below options.
- Clear your browser's data, most importantly cache and cookies. (Be sure to clear if for All Time and not just the past hour or day)
- Uninstall and reinstall the Proctorio browser extension.
- Make sure your browser is fully updated.
- Turn off other browser extensions.
- Use a different browser, Proctorio supports Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Opera.
- Look for the Proctorio LTI in the course. It should be called "Secure Exam Proctor" and is usually in the first module. Open it and you will see a message that it has successfully installed. Go back to take your exam without leaving the course. This will restart the Proctorio connection for your session in the course and should clear out any remaining issues. If Proctorio is running, the LTI will be hidden and you can skip this option.
- Restart your computer
If those steps fail contact Proctorio support either through the proctoring chat via the Proctorio Extension, phone at (866)-948-9248, or email at [email protected]
