Accessing LSUS online applications/resources as a guest from another institution/organization

Occasionally, members of external/partner institutions or organizations will be invited to work within an application/resource that LSUS owns and/or hosts.

Typically, LSUS ITS accomplishes this by adding the home organization accounts of these members as guest accounts within the LSUS organization with permission to access said application/resource. For example, an individual from the LSUAM campus my have their LSU.edu account added as a guest with permission to access the LSUS Moodle instance.

If your home organization account has been granted such access, you can follow these steps to login to said application/resource. The example below shows access the LSUS Moodle instance as a guest user, but the same process can be followed regardless of the application/resource being accessed.

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to the URL of the application you have been granted access to. (E.g. https://moodle.lsus.edu)
  2. Attempt to log into the application/resource. For Moodle, you will click "Log in" at the top-right of the page.
  3. If you are prompted for your username and password, enter your HOME ORGANIZATION email address as the username and for the password, you will enter the password for your HOME ORGANIZATION. (Note that for some institutions/organizations, at this step, you may be prompted to setup a password that you will use when accessing LSUS resources. If this is the case, follow the instructions provided for setting up your password.)

  4. Upon logging in, you will be directed to a page asking you to “Review Permissions.” Clicking “Accept” here provides the necessary permissions for your home organization account to access resources within the LSUS organization.
