Setting Up and Using Avaya Workplace (Softphone) for iOS Devices

These instructions are based upon Avaya Workplace version 3.14 (November 2020) on iOS 14.

One Time Setup Instructions

  1. Click on the App Store icon on your iOS device
  2. Click on the Search icon
  3. In the search bar, type Avaya Workplace and then hit the Search button
  4. The very first result should be Avaya Workplace, click the Get button
  5. Avaya Workplace will now download to your iOS device
  6. Once you can see the icon on your home screen, tap on it.
  7. You will be asked "Avaya Workplace would Like to Send You Notifications". Click the Allow button.  (This is important if you expect to receive calls!  Avaya uses push messages to "wake up" the app if it is closed or suspended.)
  8. You will be asked "Avaya Workplace would like to access the microphone". Click the OK button.  (This is important for obvious reasons.)
  9. You will be asked "Avaya Workplace would like to access the camera". Click either Don't Allow or OK. This is not important as we do not have video calls enabled for our phone system.
  10. You will be asked "Would you like to use Avaya Workplace with Siri?" Click either Don't Allow or Ok. This is not required, so choose your preference.
  11. You will be asked "Avaya Workplace would like to access your calendar".  Click either Don't Allow or Ok. This is not required, so choose your preference.
  12. You will be asked "Avaya Workplace would like to access your contacts".  It is recommended, though not required, that you choose OK.

  13. You will be asked to accept the Avaya End User License Agreement.  Read (if you wish) and click the Accept button.
  14. You will now be presented with a screen to "Join a Meeting" or "Configure My Account".     Click on the "Configure My Account" button.
  15. You will be asked to input your email address.  Please input it in the username@lsus.edu format (e.g., shardwic@lsus.edu) then click the "Next" button.
  16. At this point the application will go out to the web, find our telephony server and get the required settings.
  17. You will now be asked to input your LSUS Single Sign On username and password.  (eg. shardwic@lsus.edu and your password)
  18. You will next be presented a disclaimer message. "Do not use this application to make an emergency call". This is an important notice as responders will be unable to determine your location if you make an emergency 911 call from within Avaya Workplace. Press the OK button to proceed.
  19. The application will now walk your through its quick tutorial. You can press Skip or Next. If you choose Next then proceed through the multiple screens of information and then press Done at the end.
