LSUS Employee Training How-To Guide
Introduction
Beginning in Spring 2023, LSUS adopted Docebo for our employee Learning Management System (LMS).
AN LMS provides a website portal for learners to access at a time and place of their choosing for them to engage in virtual training lessons and skill development. (For those of you who work with our students, you may be familiar with LSUS’ student LMS named Moodle.)
The LSUS training system, located at https://training.lsus.edu will be the new home of all our mandatory trainings such as Title IX, cybersecurity, safety newsletters, etc. It is a combined project of LSUS Human Resources and LSUS Information Technology Services.
If you are interested in hosting training, please contact LSUS Human Resources as they will guide our professional development program. If you have technical questions, please read on through our support document here on our helpdesk.
If you cannot find your answer and it is a technical question, please feel free to file a ticket.
Terminology
There are a few terms that our LMS utilizes that may be useful to define here.
Learning Management System (LMS) – AN LMS provides a website portal for learners to access at a time and place of their choosing for them to engage in virtual training lessons and skill development. (For those of you who work with our students, you may be familiar with LSUS’ student LMS named Moodle.)
Course – A course is a container for learning materials. LSUS employee courses may be a full hour-long Board of Regents required module, or it might be a five slide PowerPoint that provides valuable information. While different in the amount of content, our system still calls them all Courses.
Learning Plan – A learning plan is several related courses that must be completed as a block to receive completion status.
Certificate – Some courses may provide you with a PDF certificate at the end for your records. If you ever lose the pdf file, you can get a copy from your My Activities – Courses page.
Certification – Our training system makes a distinction between certificate and certification. A certification is a course or learning plan that requires you to complete several steps and the certification is only valid for a limited time. Currently, the LSUS Authorized Drivers is the only certification style course LSUS has for employees.
Logging In
To access our training site, please browse to https://training.lsus.edu using a web browser.
Once there you will see a prompt:
Click the LSUS Employee SSO Credentials button. If you are already logged in to your desktop in your office, it should immediately log you in without asking for additional information. If you are not logged in or are at home, you will see the standard LSUS Single Sign On prompt.
Use your standard LSUS credentials you use for your email, computer, Moodle, etc.
Training Dashboard Interface
Once you are logged in, you will be presented with the Docebo training portal interface.
- Important quick notes for our learners
- Each course that you are enrolled in will have a tile here. The title will list the name of the course and will also let you know if you are “Not Started,” “In Progress,” or “Completed.” If you did not complete a course in the necessary period, the word “Expired” will appear in red.
- The My Courses and Learning Plans Overview widget gives you a quick view of all courses you are enrolled in.
- The My Calendar widget gives you a display of dates for courses that have a specific finite date due on them. Most LSUS courses will not appear here.
- The bell symbol may have a number next to it to display that you have notifications to read. Notifications will also be sent to your email account.
- The search box will let you search for course description words to find relevant content.
- The three horizontal symbols are referred to as the “hamburger menu.” By clicking this icon, you will get additional options, described in more detail below.
Training Menu Options
By clicking the Hamburger Menu icon, a menu of additional options will slide out from the left for you.
- Clicking the pencil icon, you can add a picture as your “Avatar.” You can also revisit the text of the Privacy Policy.
- Clicking the Training Dashboard link will take you back to the primary site page.
- Clicking the “My Course and Learning Plans” link will show you an expanded view of your courses and learning plans all on one page. This is very similar to the abbreviated version on the Training Dashboard, with the added ability to filter courses and sort them in different ways.
- Clicking the “My Activities” link will allow you to see all the important information about what courses you have completed (like a school transcript), and other interesting metrics. We recommend you visit this page sometimes.
- Clicking the “My Calendar” link shows you the monthly calendar view from the main page with additional filtering capabilities.
- The “My Team” link is only available to employees who (based on our LSUS Workday) have other employees who directly report to them. It will allow you to see the activity status of your employees. More information is below.
- Clicking the “Course Catalog” link will let you browse all the courses that are available to you. Right now, you will not see anything here, but as our professional development program grows, you will begin to see other courses here that you can self-enroll in to increase your knowledge!
My Activities Page
The “My Activities” page has all kinds of useful information on the training you have taken and acts as an effective way for you to find past certificates and see how much you have learned.
On the My Activities page, if you click the Courses link, then you will see a transcript view of the courses and your work.
- You can see that this course has expired
- You can see the little ribbon icon here indicating the course provided a PDF certificate to the user. A user can press here at any time to retrieve another copy of the certificate PDF.
- For courses that offer a score, the Score column will show you the score that the training portal has registered for you.
My Team Page
The My Team page allows a manager to get both a quick overview of their reportees and if they have any overdue courses or certifications.
A manager can also click the three dots at the bottom of each tile to send an email to the user or to see the User Summary Report which is the same information the user sees on their My Activities page (as shown above).
Sample Course Page
A course page generally opens up and you see a “Start Learning Now” button that you have to just press to begin! A table of contents will also be on the right to show you how many learning objects may be in the course.
Depending on the type of learning object, you will get a new screen when you press the button. Below is an example of what a slide-based learning object will look like.
