This is often be due to your browser set to use the wrong microphone or camera.

Chrome Steps

Enter chrome://settings/content into you address bar and press enter. This will take you to the Chrome settings for site setting. Select microphone or camera from the settings list. Check that it is set to use your system default. Sometimes there can be multiple with the same name, in those cases use the one marked for system default.

Edge Steps

Enter edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions/allPermissions into your address bar and press enter. This will take you to the Edge setting for site permissions. Select microphone or camera from the settings list. Check that it is set to use your system default. Sometimes there can be multiple with the same name, in those cases use the one marked for system default.
